Welcome to HollerPeople's Adult Page

From the very beginning of this venture, I knew that I would need to develop a link with you, the parents and the adults in the lives of our young people. Thus, this adults page was created. Of course, it is primarily for adults, but there will be nothing here that we need to hide from the teens. On the most part, Adults Only? will be a location for resources, information and conversations, about the tasks of helping young people to safely and intelligently cross that bridge into adulthood.

Although the African proverb says that it takes a village to raise a child, sometimes it feels as if it takes an entire city to raise a smart, talented, adventurous or troubled child. My wife and I have been lucky to have so much help from friends and family raising our daughter. She is 17 years old now, on the verge of high school graduation, and eagerly looking forward to becoming a college freshman. Even still, all of us have moments when we
are exhausted, confused or lost as we try to raise these kids the best we can.

If you didn't know already, help is a four letter word. Some of us are afraid of it. Some of us use it so often, it serves as a crutch. And still some, won't dare use it. However, help is all around us. Below, you will find links to some very interesting and helpful websites. They provide information, resources or directly support teens, parents, communities or families. Check them out.

Thanks for checking out HollerPeople. I hope that this is the beginning of a long and mutually enriching relationship.
